MARSHALL –
House District 31 State Representative Jason Murphey is conducting his 2007 door to door tour of Logan and North Oklahoma counties in order to visit with local residents.
"This allows me to hear from the people and make sure they know I am willing to assist them in any way possible," Murphey said.
As a City Councilman for the City of Guthrie, Murphey implemented a program of going door to door to speak to his constituents. Murphey says he received feedback and requests for help from the program that he would not normally have received had he not visited with the people.
Murphey said his 2007 door to door tour would start in the Logan County community of Marshall. "Each time I have campaigned for state office I started my campaign in Marshall. I believe the small town atmosphere, values and friendliness of Marshall residents are indicative of House District 31 as a whole. It is only appropriate that I also start my door to door tour in Marshall." Murphey stated.
The door to door program is one part of Murphey's constituent contact plan which includes writing weekly email updates, maintaining a number of advisory committees on which any House District 31 resident is eligible to be a member, community meetings and maintaining a constituent casework system in order to assist the citizens with their concerns.
"It is an honor to be the people's representative. I enjoy the opportunity to talk to the people and to work for them," Murphey said. "I hope this tour demonstrates my continued desire to do the best job possible."
