OKLAHOMA CITY - State Representative Jason Murphey (R-Guthrie) has been appointed by Speaker of the House Lance Cargill to represent Oklahoma as the voting member of two national committees.
Murphey was appointed to the National Conference of State Legislatures' (NCSL) Law and Criminal Justice Committee and the NCSL's Human Services and Welfare Committee.
The NCSL maintains 11 standing committees. The committees work to facilitate policy innovation among state legislatures and play a role in NCSL's program of representation of state's interests in Washington D.C.
The national appointments will build on Murphey's state experiences. Since beginning his term in the legislature, Murphey has worked to specialize in law enforcement and corrections issues as a member of the Oklahoma House of Representative's Criminal Justice and Corrections Committee and as Vice-Chair of the Homeland Security Committee. Murphey also serves on the House Human Services Committee.
“I have a strong interest in both law enforcement and human service policy issues. I am grateful to the Speaker for allowing me to enhance my understanding and experience in these matters through an appointment to the NCSL committees,” Murphey said.
