Lawmaker Renews Call For "No Gift List" OKLAHOMA CITY - Oklahoma State Representative Jason Murphey is using the occasion of recent disclosures by lobbyists to once again call for the creation of a "No Gifts List" that prevents lobbyists from giving legislators any item of value. A recent disclosure by paid lobbyist indicates that they invested in over $70,000 of gifts to Oklahoma Legislators during the first six months of 2008.

Representative Murphey Present for 99% of All Votes OKLAHOMA CITY - State Representative Jason Murphey (R-Guthrie) made sure that he was representing House District 31 citizens by being present to vote in all but eleven roll call votes during the 2007 and the 2008 legislative session. During the two-year time frame, the freshman Republican voted in 2,806 out of 2,817 roll call votes, or 99.6% of the time.

Murphey Listed as #1 Legislator To Refuse Gifts GUTHRIE - During the first six months of this year registered lobbyists bestowed nearly $120,000 of gifts on Oklahoma legislators. According to a recent report published in the Daily Oklahoman State Representative Jason Murphey (R-Guthrie) was #1 in the House and the Senate when it came to not accepting those gifts.

Local State Representative Votes Against Pork Spending OKLAHOMA CITY - State Representative Jason Murphey (R-Guthrie) is expressing his disappointment in the recent gubernatorial approval of a pork-filled appropriations bill. Murphey voted against House Bill 1278 even though it included thousands of dollars for an organization located in Murphey's district. Murphey hopes his vote will send a message discouraging pork spending.

Local State Representative Receives First Interim Study Of Year OKLAHOMA CITY - State Representative Jason Murphey (R-Guthrie) has won approval from House Leadership for the first interim study of the 2007 legislative session. In April, Murphey announced he would ask Speaker Lance Cargill for approval to conduct an interim study to develop statutory language that could be used to force Oklahoma pension funds to stop investing in foreign corporations that operate in terrorist-sponsoring nations. Cargill approved Murphey's request earlier this month.

State Seal May Be Returned Home To Logan County Guthrie - The state seal of Oklahoma may make its way back to Logan County for perhaps the first time since it was taken to Oklahoma City in June, 1910.
The resolution calling for the move, House Concurrent Resolution 1015, by State Representative Jason Murphey (R-Guthrie), received approval by the House of Representatives and now heads to the Senate where it is sponsored by State Senator Patrick Anderson (R-Enid).
