When Representative Murphey was a member of the Guthrie City Council, The Guthrie News Leader credited and acknowledged Murphey's work to open up access to the people by placing city government proceedings on local cable access. Murphey credited this telecast with enabling the defeat of a major tax increase proposal because he felt it allowed the people to see what was really going on in government.

 Murphey followed that action by authoring a proposal to allow the broadcast of Logan County Commission meetings.

 Now, he wants to do the same in state government. Murphey has authored legislation that will call for the telecast of all state boards, legislative meetings, and supreme court proceedings that are open to the public. He feels this will forever change the way business is conducted in state government as it will give the people a firsthand view of what goes on in government.
