Murphey Issues & Legislation

Paving Roads

For far too long Logan County residents have been forced to commute on sub-standard roads. Representative Murphey states that Logan County's road problems have occurred as growth has spread to the county and state government has continued to abuse moter tax revenus by using them for purposes that have nothing to do with transportation.

Murphey believes it is wrong for growth area roads to be funded like rural roads just because they are outside of Tulsa or Oklahoma counties and he sponsored a House Bill to place a priority on funding roads in growth areas such as Logan County. Murphey would fund these roads with motor tax revenues that are currently placed in the state's General Fund where they are used for non road related purposes Murphey's bill would make sure these funds are used for paving roads instead of being misappropriated to non road related purposes. Murphey is teaming up with Senator Patrick Anderson who also represents part of Logan County in order to pass the bill. Murphey and Anderson have developed a strategy to place the road paving language in both House and Senate bills to hopefully increase the plan's chance of passage.
