Representative Murphey serves as a member of the Public Safety Committee. As a member of this committee he is responsible for voting on policy measures pertaining as they apply to criminal justice and public safety issues. Public safety has been an important issue for Rep. Murphey since he has been in the legislature. During the 2007-2008 legislative session he was as a member of the Criminal Justice and Corrections subcommittee and was Vice-Chair of the Homeland Security subcommittee where
