Representative Murphey serves as the Vice-Chairman of the Homeland Security Subcommittee. In the role of Vice-Chairman he is responsible for conducting the meetings of the Homeland Security Committee in the absence of the Chairman. As a member of this committee he is responsible for voting on measures pertaining to both policy and appropriations as they apply to Homeland Security.
